Job Description:
The role will take technical ownership of mechanical engineering requirements, particularly HVAC, cooling, fire protection, and related mechanical systems, ensuring that designs are reliable, energy-efficient, scalable, and compliant with applicable standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with electrical, structural, ICT, project management, consultants, and contractors to ensure that all engineering disciplines are properly integrated throughout the design and project execution phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the mechanical design and engineering of data centers and other mission-critical facilities, covering HVAC, cooling systems, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
- Develop mechanical solutions that are reliable, energy-efficient, scalable, and suitable for 24/7 mission-critical operations.

Perform and/or review engineering calculations, including:
- Thermal and cooling load calculations
- Airflow calculations
- Equipment sizing
- Pump head calculations
- Chilled water and cooling system calculations
- Other mechanical system sizing and design calculations
- Prepare, review, and validate mechanical engineering designs, drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documents.
- Coordinate mechanical systems with electrical, structural, ICT, architectural, and other engineering disciplines to ensure proper system integration.
- Work closely with the Data Center Design and Engineering teams to identify and resolve technical design issues.
- Provide technical leadership and recommendations on mechanical design approaches, equipment selection, system configuration, and engineering standards.
- Review designs and technical submissions from external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to ensure compliance with project requirements and engineering standards.
- Support the Project Management team during construction and implementation by providing technical guidance and resolving mechanical engineering issues.
- Participate in testing, commissioning, and acceptance of mechanical systems to verify that equipment and systems perform according to design requirements.
- Investigate mechanical system issues and provide technical recommendations for troubleshooting and resolution.
- Support the optimization of mechanical systems during the operational phase, with focus on reliability, energy efficiency, capacity, and overall system performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency, maintainability, redundancy, and long-term operational performance.
- Ensure that mechanical designs and installations comply with applicable local codes, international standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
- Maintain awareness of developments and best practices in data center cooling, HVAC, mission-critical infrastructure, energy efficiency, and sustainable design.
- Escalate major technical issues through the appropriate engineering and management channels.
- Perform other engineering and project-related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 3–5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, preferably gained from consulting, engineering design, construction, or mission-critical facilities projects.
- Experience in data center, mission-critical facility, telecommunications facility, Cable Landing Station (CLS), or similarly complex infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
- Strong experience in the design and engineering of HVAC, cooling, fire protection, and other mechanical systems.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering calculations, including thermal loads, airflow, equipment sizing, pump head, cooling capacity, and related system calculations.
- Experience using relevant engineering/design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, TRACE, CFD, or similar software.
- Knowledge of applicable ASHRAE, NFPA, Uptime Institute principles, local building codes, and other relevant engineering standards.
- Understanding of mission-critical design principles, including redundancy, reliability, maintainability, energy efficiency, and continuous operation.
- Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines.
- Strong technical problem-solving, communication, coordination, and project management skills.
- Must be a Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME); Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME) license is an advantage but not mandatory.
