Role Overview

A leading financial services organization is seeking a Finance Automation Specialist to drive process optimization and automation initiatives within the finance function. This role focuses on identifying opportunities for efficiency, developing automation solutions, and ensuring data integrity and compliance across finance systems.

The position requires a strong blend of technical capability, finance knowledge, and stakeholder management, with opportunities to lead automation initiatives and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

Automation Strategy & Prioritization

  • Partner with Finance and IT teams to identify automation opportunities and process improvements.
  • Support prioritization of initiatives and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Participate in discussions to secure approvals and alignment on automation projects.

Solution Development & Implementation

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy automation solutions using tools such as Microsoft Excel (VBA), Alteryx, and Power Automate.
  • Maintain and enhance existing automation tools to ensure reliability and scalability.

Data Management & Governance

  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of financial data within automated processes.
  • Maintain compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Training & User Support

  • Provide training and guidance to finance users on automation tools and solutions.
  • Offer ongoing support and troubleshooting to ensure effective tool adoption.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure automated processes align with governance standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.

Systems Integration

  • Collaborate with internal IT teams and external partners to implement automation solutions, including those involving robotic process automation (RPA).
  • Support system enhancements and integrations to improve finance workflows.

Team Leadership

  • Act as a point of contact for finance automation initiatives.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members.
  • Support communication with stakeholders on progress, expectations, and outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience in finance process improvement, automation, or related roles.
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools such as Microsoft Excel (VBA) and Alteryx; exposure to Power Automate or RPA tools is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of finance processes and controls.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including Finance and IT.
